Arkansas Achievers
■ Peter Ungar, a distinguished professor at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville has been selected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Ungar, who joined the Department of Anthropology in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences in 1995, is the first University of Arkansas faculty member to be selected to the academy for a record of accomplishments made while serving at the university. Other members of the academy with ties to the UA include Bill and Hillary Clinton and J. William Fulbright, who were selected for achievements made in public office after their association with the university.
■ Two students representing Arkansas State University in Jonesboro finished in first place in the 2022 Windstream case study competition. Accounting majors Taylor Willis of Manila in Mississippi County and Hayden Dulgar of Ravenden in Lawrence County presented their projects to members of Windstream’s c-suite. The Windstream Finance Leadership program is an accounting/finance leadership program that grooms future management through rotations, training, mentoring and team building.
■ The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana awarded seven students with honors scholarships. Each scholarship is for $2,400 per academic year. The scholarships went to Priscilla Isabel Garcia of Prescott High School, Ashlyn Caudle of Fouke High School, Skyler Wilburn of Hope High School, Cole Markham of Genoa Central High School, Holly Ann Pioterek of Genoa Central High School, Isis Woodall of Murfreesboro High School and Billy Gibson of Gurdon High School. Three other students received Chancellor’s Scholarships, each one carrying $3,400 per academic year. The recipients are Alex Martinez of Nashville High School, Megan Avery of Prescott High School and Kaden Parker of Trinity Christian School in Texarkana.
Arkansas Achievers is an opportunity to give recognition to Arkansans for their achievements. Civilian and military achievements are accepted.
