BRINKLEY — Dr. Bobbie Anderson Davis,

a longtime resident of Brinkley, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, May 13, 2022, at UAMS in Little Rock at the age of 77. She was the oldest daughter of the late Robert B. Anderson and the late Mavis Files Anderson and the wife of William L. “Bill” Davis. Dr. Davis was the Valedictorian and graduate of Brinkley High School class of 1962. She received her Bachelors Degree at Arkansas State, a Masters Degree at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and her Doctors of Education Degree at the University of Memphis. She began her teaching career in the Brinkley School System. She served as Title One Coordinator and ultimately became Superintendent of Brinkley Schools. Dr. Davis served the state of Arkansas as Assistant Director of the Department of Education. Dr. Davis and Scott Smith were co-founders of the Arkansas Public School Resource Center, which is a service oriented, non-profit organization that offers support, technical assistance, and training to charter schools and rural school districts across the state. She served as Head of Finance for ten years before her retirement.

While in high school, Bobbie was selected as an All-District Basketball Player, attended Girl’s State and sang with “The Emperies”. While in college, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and over the years belonged to numerous Teachers Associations. On August 23, 1964, she was married to her high school sweetheart, William L. “Bill” Davis at the Hunter Baptist Church. They made their home in Brinkley and became members of the First Baptist Church. Always a very active and outgoing person, Bobbie never seemed to meet a stranger. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, working in her yard, traveling and interior decorating.

Family members who mourn her passing are her husband of 57 years, William L. “Bill” Davis of Brinkley; her brother, Judge Robert Bruce Anderson, Jr. and wife Lou Anne of Warren; three sisters, Suzanne Matthews and husband Robert of Snow Lake, Miss., Amy Cheyne of Cumming, Ga., and Kim Moody and husband Lynn of Jonesboro; sister-in-law, Carmen Ann Davis Robinson of Cotton Plant and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will gather at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley, Tuesday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m., to visit with friends. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday morning, at the Hunter Cemetery with Dr. Robert Matthews officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
