SUN BELT LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE 9, UALR 3

For a second straight day, Louisiana-Lafayette piled on with late offense to bury UALR at Russo Field in Lafayette, La.

The Trojans went down 1-0 early but took the lead in the top of the third inning on Noah Dickerson’s two-run double. The Cajuns then pulled level in the home half, but neither team scored again until the bottom of the seventh.

That’s when Louisiana-Lafayette (33-21, 19-11 Sun Belt Conference) retook the lead on RBI singles by Heath Hood and C.J. Willis. UALR (24-26, 11-18) got one back in the top of the eighth, only for the Cajuns to answer with five more on three hits, two walks and a hit batter.

The Trojans will be the No. 8 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. They’ll open with a single-elimination play-in game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against ninth-seeded Appalachian State.

LOUISIANA-MONROE 6, ARKANSAS STATE 3

ASU’s season concluded Saturday afternoon at Warhawk Stadium in Monroe, La., as Louisiana-Monroe completed a series sweep of the Red Wolves.

ASU (11-38, 5-24 Sun Belt Conference) surrendered single runs in the first, second, third and sixth innings with Warhawks right fielder Trace Henry logging two RBI doubles.

The Red Wolves finally scored in the seventh on Cooper Tremmel’s RBI single and added another on Wil French’s sacrifice fly. But Louisiana-Monroe (19-34-1, 9-20-1) answered with two runs in the home half of the seventh.

ASUN EASTERN KENTUCKY 7, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 3

UCA’s season ended Saturday morning as the Bears dropped their regular-season finale and missed out on a bid to the ASUN Conference Tournament.

After going down 3-0 within the first 21/2 innings, UCA (24-29, 18-12 ASUN) clawed its way back into the game. The Bears scored two unearned runs in the fourth, the latter coming on Tanner Leonard’s RBI double. They tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on Drew Sturgeon’s RBI single.

But Eastern Kentucky (35-19, 20-10) scored four times in the top of the ninth against UCA’s Trent Gregson, capped by Max Williams’ two-out, two-run home run.

With the loss, the Bears were unable to move higher than fourth in the ASUN West Division due to a combination of head-to-head and RPI tiebreakers, leaving them out of a spot in Fort Myers, Fla.
