Arkansas achievers
Shayla Dawson, a student at the University of Arkansas School of Law, has been selected as the 2022 Federal Magistrate Judges Association Fellow. She will intern with Magistrate Judge Christina Comstock of the Western District of Arkansas and receive a $2,500 stipend. The fellowship will also sponsor Dawson’s attendance at the Federal Magistrate Judges Association Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, in July 2022. Alix E. Matthews, a Ph.D. student in molecular biosciences at Arkansas State University, is one of 100 doctoral students in the U. S. and Canada selected to receive a $20,000 Scholar Award from the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization. Matthews is from North Little Rock. The P.E.O. Scholar Awards provide substantial merit-based awards for women of the U.S. and Canada who are pursuing a doctoral-level degree at an accredited college or university. Recipients are chosen for their high level of academic achievement and their potential for having a positive impact on society.
Christina Jones, a University of Arkansas at Little Rock graduate student from Cabot, will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas. Jones will graduate from UALR in December 2022. She currently serves as a graduate assistant in the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education Dean’s Office. Arkansas Achievers is an opportunity to give recognition to Arkansans for their achievements. Civilian and military achievements are accepted.
