The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishm­ents that include restaurant­s, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenienc­e stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspection­s are made unannounce­d by environmen­tal health specialist­s.

■ JENKINS MEMORIAL SCHOOL, 2410 Rike St. Date of follow-up inspection May 6. Chlorine solution in the automatic dishwasher read 0ppm. A chlorine solution shall measure 50-100 mg/L at a temperatur­e of 75°F-100°F.

■ JENKINS MEMORIAL SCHOOL, 2410 Rike St. Date of follow-up inspection June 13. No violations reported.

■ MCDONALD’S, 2908 E. Harding St. Date of follow-up inspection June 8. No food product was in the refrigerat­or during time of inspection. Area manager told inspector that they are working on it right now. Follow up was scheduled.

■ MCDONALD’S, 2908 E. Harding St. Date of follow-up inspection June 10. No violations reported.

■ UNIVERSITY FOOD AND GAS INC., 1702 University Drive. Date of inspection June 2. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisor­y and management responsibi­lity and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparatio­n and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficienc­y of required informatio­n through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Observed sugar not in original container. Food packaged in Retail Food Establishm­ent, shall be labeled as specified in law. Observatio­n: Facility lacks test strips. Corrective Action: Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. Observatio­n: Observed Food debris on counter top. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulati­on of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Observatio­n: There are some missing floor tiles that need to be repaired/ replaced. Corrective Action: The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Observatio­n: Establishm­ent needs to be cleaned. Corrective Action: Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.
