HAZEN — Connie A. Chudy,

a retired farmer, avid outdoorsma­n, and community servant, went to be with friends in Heaven on June 11, 2022, at the age of 92. Connie was a lifelong resident of Hazen, Ark., unless he was hunting out of state.

Connie graduated from Subiaco Academy in 1947 and served on Subiaco’s Board of Directors, along with being President of Subiaco Alumini Associatio­n for many years. Connie also served on the Prairie County Democratic Committee for over 20 years and held several terms on Hazen School Board.

Connie loved hunting especially Canada Geese in Olive Branch, Illinois, where he guided for over 30 years. Turkey hunting was his passion. Connie killed his last turkey in 2021 at the age of 91, making it his 65th year in a row to harvest one or more turkeys in several states. Connie also loved cooking, and for many years helped a baking group at Sts. Cyril & Methodious Catholic Church in Slovak.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rook Chudy; his son, Steve (Sheila) Chudy of Hazen; two grandsons, Andy (Laura) Chudy of Plano, Texas, and Alan Chudy of Hazen; great-grandchild­ren, Anthony and Kate Chudy of Plano, Texas; and one sister, Adelaide Drotar of Slovak, Ark.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at Sts. Cyril & Methodious Catholic Church in Slovak, followed by Rosary at 10:30 and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Sts. Cyril & Methodious Catholic Cemetery in Slovak.
