-

of Little Rock succumbed on Friday, June 10, 2022. A valiant fighter, John dealt with a form of Parkinson’s known as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for the last five years.

During the length of his progressive illness, John never lost his sense of humor. He accepted his condition with grace and dignity and never bemoaned his fate. His caregivers, LaToya Hodges, Gerald Brown and Earl Franklin, became his friends, and their relationship was heartwarming. Arkansas Hospice provided excellent care over the last months of John’s life.

John was born on March 21, 1951, in Fayetteville, Tenn.. He grew up in Kosciusko, Miss., graduating from Kosciusko High School in 1969. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1974, John started his 37-year career with State Farm. His father was a State Farm agent, but John chose becoming a claims superintendent. Likewise, both of John’s sons have followed this path and are working in the insurance industry.

Upon his retirement John enjoyed weekly lunches with his retired friends and frequent golfing outings. The best times were those spent with his grandkids. Whether it was going to a park, taking them to a movie or spending time in the pool, John made sure each one felt special, loved, safe and happy. John’s passion was his yard. Spring, summer, and fall afforded time to plant, weed, prune, and keep an amazing, landscaped yard.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Kerr Jennings; his mother, Mary Jennings; son, John Doss Jennings, III (JJ), JJ’s wife, Jill, and their children, Cayden Doss, Ella Claire, and George Wilson; along with his son, Joseph Brent Jennings (Brent), Brent’s wife, Hannah, and their children, Mary Caroline and Jackson Brent.
