Brain, age 81, of Harrison, passed away on June 22, 2022, at her home. The daughter of Earl Frank and Lovey Irene Garbett Pettyjohn, she was born October 14, 1940, in Texarkana, Texas. Sue grew up in Little Rock and lived in Russellvil­le from 1971 until moving to Harrison in 2011 to be near family. After graduating from Little Rock Central High in 1958, Sue studied English and Art at Hendrix College. She married her husband Sid in 1961. Sue and Sid went on to spend 61 loving years together, raising their children, participat­ing in their community, and traveling and making friends all over the country. Sue was known for her kind, loving heart, her generosity, and keeping up with friends and family near and far through letters and cards. Sue was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellvil­le, and she attended Valley View United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Harrison. She was also a member of P.E.O. in both Russellvil­le and Harrison. Sue volunteere­d in nursing homes, taught Sunday school, and volunteere­d at Wesley Foundation and Manna House in Russellvil­le. Known as Grammy to her grandchild­ren and their friends, Sue loved spending time with them in person and through FaceTime. As her grandchild­ren grew, Sue shared her love of art, nature, poetry, and baking with them. Her playful sense of humor and joyful nature led to many shared hours of love and laughter.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Sid Brain of Harrison; her daughters, Dianne Brain (Kent Staley) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Lucia Krone (Ben) of Harrison; and five grandchild­ren, Madeline Krone of New York, New York, Sid Krone of Houston, Texas, Stella Krone of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Nina Krone of Conway, Arkansas, and Charlie Staley-Brain of St. Louis, Missouri.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at White Church Cemetery at Harrison, with the Rev. Allen Crum officiatin­g. All are welcome. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to “Manna House Designated Fund” of Russellvil­le First United Methodist Church, 304 W.
