PINE BLUFF — Barbara J. “Helen” Hazelip,

age 89 of Rockwall, Texas, passed away October 24, 2022. She was born August 9, 1933, in Grady, Ark., to Rufus Clyde Jonson and Mattie Lee (Knight) Johnson. Helen graduated in 1951 from Grady High School. She began working for the U.S. Civil Service in Pine Bluff, Ark., and later worked for the Social Security Administra­tion, retiring from her government job after 30 years of service.

Helen decided to change careers, and received her nursing degree from County Community College in Blythevill­e, Ark., in 1991. She worked for Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., and Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Ariz. Helen also worked as a home health nurse in both Arizona and Texas for several years. In 2007, she moved to Rockwall, Texas, where she remained until her death.

Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwall, as well as the First Baptist Senior Choir. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r and will be dearly missed by friends and family.

Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Hazelip; daughters: Barbara Lynn Hazelip, and Beverly Ann Keiffer and husband Paul; and grandchild­ren, Scott Keiffer and wife Eileen, and Rebecca Toft and husband Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Hazel Ashcraft, R. C. Johnson, Derwood Johnson, Hoyt Johnson, and Harold Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Online register: www.RalphRobin­sonandSon.com
