HENDERSON STATE 42, SOUTHERN NAZARENE 41, OT

A failed two-point conversion in overtime by Southern Nazarene gave Henderson State University a victory in Bethany, Okla.

Trailing 20-7 at halftime, the Reddies (7-2, 7-2 Great American Conference) got an-11 yard touchdown pass from Andrew Edwards to Xavier Malone, as well as touchdown runs of 2 and 11 yards from Korien Burrell, to take a 28-27 lead at the end of the third quarter. Burrell made it 35-27 in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run.

But the Crimson Storm (3-6, 3-6) forced overtime when Porter Gage scored on a 23-yard touchdown run and ran for the two-point conversion to tie the game at 35-35.

Burrell scored his fifth touchdown in overtime on a 2-yard run, and Gage countered on his own 2-yard touchdown run before the failed two-point conversion ended the game.

Burrell finished with 135 yards rushing on 26 carries and Malone had 5 catches for 66 yards. Edwards went 14-of-30 passing for 169 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 intercepti­on.

SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 52, OKLAHOMA BAPTIST 20

Quarterbac­k OB Jones was 16-of-18 passing for 224 yards and 1 touchdown, while rushing for 35 yards and 3 more touchdowns, to lead Southern Arkansas University (4-5, 4-5) to a victory over Oklahoma Baptist (1-8, 1-8) in Shawnee, Okla.

Trailing 6-3 at the start of the second quarter, Jones scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Muleriders the lead for good with 9:45 left in the first half. Judd Barton then threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Devin McDonald that gave SAU a 17-6 halftime lead.

Jones scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 18 yards in the third quarter, then threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Lewis with 9:51 left in the fourth to put the Muleriders ahead 38-13. Lewis added a 59-yard touchdown run and Barton had a 20-yard touchdown run later in the fourth quarter.

HARDING 28, NW OKLAHOMA STATE 7

Running back Braden Jay ran for two first-half touchdowns as Harding University (7-2, 7-2) remained in a second-place tie with Henderson State in the GAC standings with a victory over Northweste­rn Oklahoma State at First Security Stadium in Searcy.

Jay scored on a 67-yard touchdown run with 4:44 left in the first quarter, then added a 14-yard touchdown run with 42 seconds left in the first half that gave the Bisons a 14-0 lead. Jhalen Spicer made it 21-0 with 7:51 left in the third quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run and Cole Keylon completed the scoring with a 73-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Harding finished with 366 yards of total offense, with all but 15 of them coming on the ground. Keylon led the way with 118 yards on 14 carries, while Jay had 82 yards on just 3 carries.

SE OKLAHOMA STATE 48, ARK.-MONTICELLO 20

After giving up a touchdown to the University of Arkansas-Monticello early in the first quarter, Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State scored 41 unanswered points on its way to a victory at Willis “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium in Monticello.

Deundre Wheeler started the run for the Savage Storm with a 5-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 7-7 with 3:05 left in the first quarter. He added an 8-yard touchdown run with 10:57 left in the third quarter that made it 35-7. Daulton Hatley had touchdown throws of 35 yards to Matthew Nunez and 18 yards to Marquis Gray, Tyveon Williams added a punt return for a touchdown and Trey Keats hit field goals of 32 and 29 yards.

UAM quarterbac­k Edwin Kleinpeter, who was 13-of28 passing for 167 yards, threw touchdown passes of 31 and 18 yards — both to Jordan Mansfield — in the second half. Mansfield finished with 3 catches for 66 yards.
