PLANO, Texas — Brenda Carol Smith,

of Plano, Texas passed away February 27, 2023 at the age of 74.

She was born on August 23, 1948 to Harold Short and Lillian (Fecher) Short in Little Rock, Ark. Brenda was a 1966 graduate of Beebe High School in Beebe, Ark. She received her bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark. Brenda married the loved of her life, Ricky Smith, on March 7, 1970 in Beebe. She was a retired Junior High Math Teacher. Her greatest fondness was helping the many children where she worked. Brenda also enjoyed traveling with her husband for work. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Beebe in Arkansas. Brenda was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her. Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Ricky; brother, Dr. Harold Short and wife, Sandra; four nephews: Adam Short, Clay Short, Jake Short, and Nathan Short and wife, Monica; great-nephew, Hudson Short; great-niece, Haley Short; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Harold and Lillian Short.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
