FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Tina Lisa Nesterenko Day,

-

beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 62, after a long hard fight with a terrible illness on Sunday, March 5, 2023. This was exactly 18 years from her first date with her husband, Lee.

Tina was born on July 16, 1960 in Little Rock, Ark. She was the daughter of Alex and Linda Nesterenko. Tina grew up in Little Rock, and at the age of 14, became a candy striper. She absolutely fell in love with nursing. She later went to school and became a registered nurse.

Tina had many lifelong friends and a large family she loved in Arkansas, but in 2004, Tina moved to Atlanta, Ga. Not too long after that, she met the love of her life, Lee Day. Tina and Lee were perfect for each other. Their first date was to a cooking expo at the Galleria Mall. Tina told Lee she loved to cook and they were a perfect match because Lee said he loved to eat.

Tina and Lee quickly became inseparable, and in 2007, they moved to Daphne and later to Fairhope, Ala. This became their home and Tina’s love for the people and area grew exponentially. Tina and Lee married on March 4, 2017, right between her mom and dad’s birthday, and were very happy.

Tina was an excellent cook and homemaker but did so much more. She gave a lot of her personal time to volunteer as a hospice nurse, and then administered Covid vaccines. In her spare time, she loved to paint. One of her favorite things to do was to spend time on the 4th of July on her dad’s boat with family and friends. Tina and Lee also loved to travel to the mountains together in the fall.

Tina is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Porfeno and Anna Nesterenko; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Pauline Spann Smith; brother-in-law, Alan Day; and mother and father-in-law, Frances and Howard Day; and her dog Thelma Lou.

She is survived by her loving husband of six years, Lee Day; daughter, Leah Elizabeth McGraw; parents, Alex and Linda Nesterenko; siblings, Tim (Missy) Nesterenko, and Tony(Tabitha) Nesterenko; nephews, Cameron and Preston Nesterenko; brothers-in-law, Tony Day (Leanne) and Mike Day (Arlene); sistersin-law, Brenda Day Medlock (Ralph) and Gail Day; her fur-baby, Zoey; as well as number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Tina will be missed by so many people here on earth, but we know she is dancing with the angels and now no longer in pain.

The family would like to thank the staff at Thomas Hospital and hospice in Fairhope, Ala. for their comfort and care of Tina. Memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. both at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 36th & Shackleford Rd. in Little Rock. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in North Little Rock.
