GREENVILLE, Texas — Shirley Jean Daniels,

a beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2023 at her home near Greenville, Texas, surrounded by family. Shirley was born October 21, 1947 in Monticello, Ark., to Albert and Ethel Dodson. The family moved to Pine Bluff, Ark., when she was thirteen years old. She met her husband, David Daniels, in 1963 at Skateland on Dollarway Road. She graduated Watson Chapel High School in 1965, marrying shortly thereafter during David’s leave between basic training and his first assignment at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Upon his discharge, they settled back in Pine Bluff, Ark. She had given birth to her first child, David, in 1969, and second, John, in 1972. After raising two children, she moved into the workforce in various management positions. Of special note, she was a well-known and respected agent for the Arkansas Revenue Office from 1989 to 2014. After retirement, the couple eventually moved near Greenville, Tecas to be closer to their grandchild­ren.

She loved socializin­g, gardening, building crafts and as a couple, traveled thousands of miles together, seeing the sights across the United States. She was very active in the Shriners working the cotton candy booth at the Shrine Circus for over thirty years, and attended twenty-three Shriner Imperial Sessions. She was First Lady of the Sahara Shrine in 2002.

She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Gorden Dodson; her mother, Ethel Vivian Dodson; her brother, Russell Dodson. She is survived by her husband, David Allen Daniels; her two sons, David Gene Daniels and his wife Barbara Ruckel Daniels, John Allen Daniels and his wife, Barbara Jozwiak Daniels; one niece, Christey Dodson-Noble and her husband, Charles Noble; four grandchild­ren: Jacob (15) Sarah (13), Cora (8) and Alice (6). The family would be remiss if her beloved chiweenie, Dottie, was not mentioned.

All friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebratio­n of Life party (casual, come and go as you like, snacks, drinks) at the couple’s home near Greenville, Texas, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday March 4, 2023 at 270 County Road 3324, Greenville, Texas 75402.

A memorial service will be held for friends in Arkansas at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Robinson & Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel, 8302 Dollarway Road White Hall, Ark., 71602, with Brother Bill Hilburn officiatin­g.
