God’s grace and mercy sustained DORIS LEE PENDLETON

of Little Rock for 99 years and nearly seven months, and in the twinkling of an eye, with her loving son at her bedside, she entered the Church Triumphant Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Having accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, Doris maintained an undying faith in Him. One of her favorite expression­s was, “Why wouldn’t I serve a God like that?” Awaiting her in eternity were her parents, James and Rosie Pendleton; and sisters, Jimmie Lee Pendleton and Susie Pendleton Thomas.

Left with cherished memories are her devoted son, Marion A. (Vernita) Humphrey, Sr.; grandson, Marion A. Humphrey, Jr., both of Little Rock; two nieces and a nephew, who for many years shared the family home in Pine Bluff, LaWanda Pendleton and James Andre’ Pendleton, Sr., both of Little Rock, and D. Veda Pendleton, Ph.D, of Louisville, Ky.; her nieces, Leola Oliver and Jewell Miles of Pine Bluff; a nephew, Kim Thomas of Little Rock; and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends.

The family hour will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at P. K. Miller Mortuary, 204 East Second Avenue in Pine Bluff. A celebratio­n of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at Allison Memorial Presbyteri­an Church, 922 Wright Avenue, Little Rock, with Reverend Dr. Joy Carrington officiatin­g and eulogy by Reverend Marion A. Humphrey, Sr. Public viewing will begin at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthur and Edna Wilson Food Pantry at Allison Memorial.
