Mrs. Jettie Mae Jackson Wisemon was born on April 25, 1938, in Dumas, Ark. She was the only child born to L.C Washington and Novella Reed Jackson Smittie and the eldest of eleven siblings.

She attended Main Street Elementary and graduated from Merrill High School. She later went on to attend AM&N College (now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff).

She worked for several years with the Pine Bluff School District, March of Dimes, Wolffe Athletics, Superior Trucking Company and lastly Coleman’s Childcare and Learning Center until her retirement.

Jettie accepted Christ at the Union Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Pastor S. H. Banks, and later under Pastor Leroy Spears, Jr. where she remained faithful until her illness.

She was united in holy matrimony to John Henry Coleman on April 17, 1955, and to this union they were blessed with seven children. On July 30, 1994, she married Clewester Wisemon, Sr., where she remained a devoted wife until her illness.

Most remembered Jettie as having “Feeding the Hungry” during the holidays, when many did not have anything to eat. This was her greatest and most rewarding effort as this gave her immense joy. She never met a stranger and always had compassion for those in need. She was the president of the “Willing Workers” and many other auxiliaries within the church, including aiding in its beautification.
