KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On June 18, 2023, Lou went to be in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Born Ida Lou Duckworth,

11.26.1927, in Watson, Ark. to A.C. and Adelia McCone Duckworth, she spent her childhood in Watson graduating from Watson High School.

She attended Henderson State College and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, earning her BSE in education with a minor in Library Science. She taught school in Watson, Gould, and Dumas, Ark., then Lake Hamilton and Fountain Lake Schools in Hot Springs, Ark., followed by Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock, Ark. She was married to Joseph P. Morgan until his death in 1980, and later to William S. Bradford until his death in 2007. The joy of her life was her only child, Bruce C. Morgan of Knoxville, Tenn. In 2012, she moved to Knoxville to be with her beloved son and daughter-in-law.

Always active in church, she was a Sunday school teacher, youth counselor, nursery worker, choir member, and Vacation Bible School director. She was always ready to participat­e in any worthwhile activity of family, church, and community including the Desha County Historical Society, AEA and NEA Teachers Associatio­ns (Officer and Lifetime Member), Hospital Auxiliary (Charter President), Rotary Internatio­nal (Paul Harris Fellow), Garden Club, and Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Watson, Harrisburg, and Dumas, Ark. Later, she was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Ark., Second Baptist Church Downtown in Little Rock, Ark., and First Baptist Church of Blue Grass in Knoxville, Tenn.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Abner Clinton, Jr.; sister, Bobbie Ruth Duckworth Carter; brother, Jack Desha Duckworth; and husbands Joseph P. Morgan and William S. Bradford.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Clinton Morgan (Terry Tarpenning Morgan) of Knoxville, Tenn. Also surviving are grandchild­ren, Matthew B. Morgan (Jeremiah Hale and son, Fallon Hale) and Tara Morgan Delozier (Josh Delozier), both of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; two grandchild­ren by marriage, Lauren Upshaw Eastham (Michael Davis, Jr.) of Brentwood, Tenn., and Victor T. Upshaw (Erin Beasley Upshaw) of Knoxville, Tenn.; and four great-grandchild­ren, Davis, Averi, Ava, and Leighton, who made her smile. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Gloria DeBusk Duckworth (Jack Desha Duckworth) of Heber Springs, Ark.; and Johnelle DeBusk Hunt (J.B. Hunt) of Rogers, Ark., who was like a sister; nieces and nephews, Sherry Carter of Benton, Ark., Mike Carter (Cathy) of Marion, Ind., Brock Duckworth (Debbie Duckworth) of Parker, Texas and their children Brock and Lindsay and their families, De Ann Duckworth Crawford (David Crawford) of Peachtree Corners, Ga., and their children Jack and Lane and their families, cousins Cathy Ross Goodwin (Dr. Tom Goodwin) of Conway, Ark., Barbara Davis of Quitman, Ark., and Don Best (Katie Best) of Pine Bluff, Ark.

Lou’s thoughtful­ness, humor, and kind heart will be missed, and she will be remembered for her unconditio­nal love and generosity.

The family would like to give special recognitio­n to the staff at Deane Hill Assisted Living, Life Care Rehab and Amedisys Hospice of Knoxville, Tenn., who provided loving care.

A Celebratio­n of Life is planned for July 21, 10:30 a.m., at Second Baptist Church Downtown, Little Rock, Ark.
