BEEBE — Charles Albert Long, age 80,

of Beebe, Ark., went to be with the Lord September 15, 2023. He was born on March 29, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., to Albert and Audrey Long. Charles was a member of the Beebe First United Methodist Church, where he loved serving the Lord. He enjoyed reading, working in his wood shop, his bonsai trees, traveling, and watching the Boston Celtics with his son. Charles loved his family, including his large extended family.

He had numerous positions throughout his life while working for Entergy (originally AP&L), beginning when he was 15 years old in Butler, Mo. He continued working for the company for 40 years until his retirement in 2003.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Glenda (Holifield) Long; sisters, Sue Bucy and Sally Hopper (Billy); sister-in-law, Phyllis (Holifield) Misee; niece, Beverly (Bucy) Frizzell; nephew, Robert Holifield; three brothers-in-law: Cecil Holifield, Ronnie Cooper, and Bill Russell.

Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Killingswo­rth Halford Long; daughter, Clair Peppers (David); son, Charles Michael Long; sisters, Cindy Cooper and Sandra Russell; sister-in-law, Cindy Holifield; granddaugh­ter, Lauren Blackwell (Chase); three nephews: Matthew Cooper (Pam) and their children, Macy and Baylor, Justin Cooper (Tracy) and their children, Chapman and Daniel, and Jeff Hopper; brothers-inlaw: John Killingswo­rth (Cheryl), Steve Killingswo­rth (Sherry), and Jesse Bucy; nieces, Lizy Wiggins (Brandon), Paulette Morris (Tim) and their children, Zac Morris and Cassie Hein (Charlie), Leigh Kocsik, Connie Holitik, Carol Knight and her children, Robert and Jonathan, Emily LaLone (Keith) and son, Cecil, Keli Collins (John) and their daughter, Samantha, and Kris Cogbill (Lyle) and their children, Sadie and Parker; stepson, Mark Halford (Sheila) and their children, Byars Halford (Kassie), Bryson Halford, and Baylee Kostyshock (Jacob); stepdaught­er, Hope Larisey (Frank); and neighbors that became family, Hope and Larry McGraw and their children, Livia and Trevor. His last years and months were blessed by Mandy, his maltipoo and constant companion.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Beebe First United Methodist Church. The family will also receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., also at the church. Interment will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Ark.
