OUACHITA BAPTIST 45, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 25

Kendal Givens carried 22 times for 170 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to power Ouachita Baptist (4-0, 4-0 Great American Conference) to a road win at Willis Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium in Monticello.

Givens scored on runs from 1 and 16 yards out for the Tigers, who led 21-0 after the first quarter and 31-13 at halftime. Riley Harms completed 17 of 24 passe for 221 yards and threw touchdown passes to Connor Flannigan and Chris Hightower in that first quarter. Flannigan ended with six catches for 106 yards.

Demilon Brown was 22 of 38 for 247 yards with 1 touchdown and rushed 12 times for 154 yards with 2 scores for UAM (2-2, 2-2), which got within 38-25 in the fourth quarter but didn’t have enough late to avoid losing its second straight game.

Eli Livingston eventually iced the win for OBU with a 4-yard score with 7:06 remaining.

SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 49, ARKANSAS TECH 3

Jariq Scales blasted his way for 151 yards rushing and scored three times as Southern Arkansas (3-1, 3-1 Great American Conference) responded to last week’s loss at Ouachita Baptist with a rout at Wilkins Stadium in Magnolia.

O.B. Jones also ran for 108 yards with two touchdowns for the Muleriders, who were in control from the start. SAU led 7-3 in the first quarter before a 17-yard touchdown run from Scales ignited a 21-point burst to end the first half. Scales scored on a 10-yard run with 12:37 left in the third quarter to boost the Muleriders’ lead to 353. Cordrick Dunn and Kadyn Roach would also tack on touchdown runs for SAU, which has beaten Arkansas Tech (0-4, 0-4) in seven of its past nine meetings.

Taye Gatewood was 26 of 41 for 195 yards for the Wonder Boys, who were outgained 517-259.
