Meeting looks at NWA Greenhouse Road
BENTONVILLE — Residents still may comment on a plan to expand Greenhouse Road after a meeting Monday.
City officials presented preliminary plans on the design of the road and solicited input during a three-hour meeting that drew between 150 and 200 people to the Bentonville Community Center, said Jarrod Brightwell, city staff engineer.
“The main concerns we heard from citizens were impacts to residents’ property and amount of traffic on the corridor,” Brightwell said. “They expressed appreciation for the pedestrian facilities that have been included in the plans and general improvements to the roadway.”
The project is a joint venture between Bentonville and Centerton. About 55% of the project is in Bentonville and 45% in Centerton, according to Centerton Mayor Bill Edwards.
Edwards, who attended the Monday meeting, said it was well-attended.
“There were several citizens who came and gave input — good and concerns,” he said. “I think overall it went good. We asked them to please put their comments in writing, which a lot of them did. I think people have a good understanding of what’s going on.”
Online comments will be accepted at https://bit.ly/GreenhouseComments until Oct. 18, Edwards said.
The link also includes a frequently asked questions handout, informational display boards, an engineer details map and a right-of-way limits map.
The next steps are to compile public comments for consideration for any possible changes and continue with the environmental study phase. Plans are 30% to 60% complete, Brightwell said. No additional public meetings are scheduled, he said.
Greenhouse Road connects with Southwest 14th Street to the north and Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard to the south — a stretch of about a mile and a half. Southwest 14th Street changes into East Centerton Boulevard as it heads west into Centerton.
