of Benton, passed away October 12, 2023 in Benton, Ark.

Betty was born in Memphis, Tenn., on October 9, 1930 to William L. and Hattie P. Carrol Sneed, and was a graduate of Little Rock High School. She was wed to her husband of 63 years, Norman K. Young, and was a member of Tyler Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, where she served as church secretary and helped lead the youth program. After her children were grown, Betty worked for Southweste­rn Bell for many years until her retirement. Betty had a servant’s heart and lived out her faith every day showing loving kindness to those around her from family to friends to neighbors always putting others’ needs above her own. After moving to Benton later in life, Betty became a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed the ladies of the Genesis Class. She also enjoyed making new friends at the Senior Adult Center and was a member of Silver Sneakers at the River Center. Preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband, she is survived by her three sons: Cliff Young and wife, Vickie, of Greers Ferry, Ken Young and wife, JoAnn, of Hot Springs, and David Young of Falls Church, Va.; six grandchild­ren: Kenny Young, Scott Young and wife, Summer, Chris Young and wife, Ginger, Lauren Kimbrough and husband, Scott, Collin Young, and Hollis Young; and five great-grandchild­ren: Seth, Nealey, Eliza Grace, Shepard, and Carter. Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be held Monday, October 16, in Selph Hall at First Baptist Church in Benton, officiated by Pastor Edd Spurlock. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Alexander.
