PAUL GERHARD KROLL,

-

99, passed away October 6, 2023. He was born April 14, 1924, in Stremlau, Germany to the late Eduard and Grete Kroll.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Kroll; his first wife, Wilma Kroll; and numerous family and friends.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Greta Cater (Jerome); granddaughters, Hannah Cater and Sarah Cater; and great-grandson, Braxton Cater.

He was born in Germany and lived there until he and Wilma arrived in the United States in 1952. Here, they began their lives and family in Wisconsin. A year later, Paul began working for Prospect Farms, and the company moved him and his family to Arkansas in 1968. Prospect Farms eventually became Tyson Foods, and he retired with them in 1989. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with loved ones and traveling.

Paul was a champion at life. He was strong and determined at everything he did. He was a loving “Opa” and wore that title proudly. Paul could effortlessly turn a stranger into a friend. Up until age 95, he still traveled back to Germany to visit his loved ones, sometimes more than once a year. At 99, he still was able to care for himself at home and enjoyed visiting his family and friends that he had around the world.

A few years ago, Paul made his family a biography of his life which they will forever treasure and would like to share with you. The edited version can be viewed at https://youtu.be/-0xDNfmUrtA?si=BTKEZDR-QzoUQEYP. The unedited version can be viewed at https://youtu.be/RVR1fiAB_-E?si=JNSQGvGjSAUQlrRP.

A visitation celebrating Paul’s life will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street).

The family kindly asks that instead of sending flower arrangements, please donate in his memory to your local food bank or animal shelter.
