BENTON — Virline F. Nutt

-

passed away on October 8th, 2023, at the age of 85 in Little Rock, Arkansas at UAMS Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on July 13th, 1938, in Malvern, Ark.

She was married for 68 years to the love of her life and quickly had three children. With great tenacity, she finished a degree in math education while raising her young children. She went on to teach public school at Poyen and Sheridan before becoming an instructor at Henderson State.

Virline’s faith in Jesus was very important to her. She faithfully served alongside her husband as he pastored for over 55 years at Missionary Baptist Churches in Sheridan (Calvary MBC), Lonsdale (Ten Mile MBC), and Benton (Oak Grove MBC).

Most recently, Virline was a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed attending her church, her Sunday School Ladies Class, Keen Klub Seniors’ activities, and especially the fellowship of the weekly dominoes group she helped to start. Virline was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by parents John Virgil and Zetha V Ford, sister, Linda Orr and brother, Michael Ford.

Virline is survived by her husband, Vance O. Nutt, of Benton, Ark., her daughters Gay Nutt of Benton, Ark., Toni Wiegel (Bob Wiegel) of Benton, Ark., and Paula Tinsley (Ed Tinsley) of Little Rock, Ark.; her grandchildren Mandi Johnson (Jonathan Johnson), Jesse Wiegel, Micah Wiegel (Lauren Wiegel), Justin Tinsley (Blair Graves), Jordan Tinsley (Colleen Youngdahl), Julie Schaefer (Aaron Schaefer); and her great-grandchildren Mary Beth Johnson, Clara Johnson, Jack Johnson, Annaleigh Wiegel, Evie Wiegel, Arnold Tinsley, Carina Tinsley, Sloan Tinsley, Dean Tinsley and Sophie Schaefer.

A funeral will be held at Ashby Funeral Home (108 W Narroway St., Benton, Ark. 72015) on October 12th at 11 a.m., and there will be a visitation at 10 a.m. at the same location. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation and funeral and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in memory of Virline Nutt to the Cross Roads Mission Fund, Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church, 10019 Lily Drive, Benton, Ark. 72015, or floral arrangements that can be later shared with local people to enjoy.
