known affectiona­tely as Gerald, of Stamps, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the age of 92, at the Wentworth Place in Magnolia.

Born on November 16, 1931, in Waldo, Ark., Gerald served honorably in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He dedicated his career to the field of education, where he worked tirelessly as a coach, principal, and administra­tor for the Public School Districts of Texarkana, Genoa Central, and Stamps, where he influenced countless young lives with his wisdom and kindness.

Gerald was a longtime faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Stamps. He was an avid outdoorsma­n who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. He also was a lifelong cattle farmer.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Homer and Velma (Haynes) Wright; his sister, Jennie Lou Owens; and his brother, William E. Wright. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peggy Franks Wright of Stamps; children, Stephen Wright and wife Jodie of Hot Springs Village, and Cindy Lann and husband Randy of Vilonia; grandchild­ren, Julia Lann of Vilonia, Brandon Wright of Vilonia, Brad Lann and wife Abby of Greenbrier, and Whitney Bramlett and husband Joel of Hot Springs; great grandchild­ren, Preston Wright, Allie Wright, and Lawson Wright of Vilonia, Levi Lann of Greenbrier; brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Franks and wife Harriet; nephews and nieces, Hayden Franks, Jason Franks, Justin Franks, David McDaniel, Tim McDaniel, Barbie Briscoe, and Betsy Hamilton; special friend, Nancy Ruby; caregiver, Nicholette Smith; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, Ark., with a graveside service following at 2:30 p.m. at the Waldo Cemetery in Waldo, Ark., with Rev. Linda Christian and Bro. Mike Turner officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s will be Brandon Wright, Brad Lann, Joel Bramlett, Dr. Hayden Franks, Dr. Jason Franks, and Dr. Justin Franks. Honorary pallbearer­s will be David Bright, Garry Rivers, Sid Dickson, David Pierce, Dr. Jimmy Hurley, Lacey Rogers, Rusty May, Charles Goodwin, Gary Gentry, Stan McMurrow, Danny Ormand, Terry Dickson, Gary Shipley, Brady Gore, and Copie Dickson.

The family requests memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 400 Main, Stamps, Ark. 71860.
