HELEN GENEVA JONES-NICHOLS,

age 85, passed away December 26, 2023. She was born May 20, 1938, in North Little Rock, Ark.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William J. Benner Sr. and Helen Geneva Cutrell Benner; and husbands, Eugene (Gene) Jones and Alex Nichols. Her only child Joseph Eugene Jones also precedes her in death; as well as three sisters, Mary Andrews of North Little Rock, Ark., Dolly Alexander of Maumelle, Ark., and Sandra Jones of Damascus, Ark.

Helen is survived by her brother, Bill Benner of Mabelvale, Ark.; and sister, Judy Mears (Richard) of Yellville, Ark.; and stepson, Jay Nichols (Linda) of East End community; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was a very talented lady. She made many award-winning porcelain dolls, including their clothes and accessorie­s, one that won first place at the Arkansas State Fair. She also worked for Timex and did the bookkeepin­g for her husband’s car dealership in North Little Rock.

In later years, after Gene passed away, she married Alex Nichols from the East End community. Helen and Alex spent many happy years traveling and attending country dances several times a week.

Family and friends would like to thank the nurses and caregivers that have taken care of Helen in the nursing facilities around the Benton, Ark., area and, more recently, the hospice nurses. All were great.

A visitation for Helen will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72117. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 2 p.m., 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72117. A burial will occur Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117.
