SCOTT — Jasper Jack M. Whitfield,

-

85, of Scott, Ark., went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2024. He was born in North Little Rock on September 28, 1938. He was the son of Grady and Myrtle Warrick Whitfield.

Jack was of the Christian faith. He can easily be described as a “good man.” He was a kind person to all, and very big hearted. If he ran into someone in need, he would help them, if he could. He was truly a “precious” person.

Jack was the father of seven children, but he was the daddy of 10 children. His extra children were his wife’s, three younger siblings, who had to come live with them. He raised them as his own.

Jack, a lifelong resident of Scott, worked hard during his life. He was maintenance manager at Georgia Pacific for 48 years, and he owned Toltec Hay Farm for 40 years. He loved working on his hay farm. His greatest loves in life were his family, his farm, and his cows.

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Grice Whitfield; his sons, Tommy and Grady Whitfield; two of his “extra” children, Buddy and Harold Patterson; and his son-in-law, David Houser; his brothers, Bill and Grady (Jr.) Whitfield.

He is survived by his sons, David (DeeAnn) Whitfield of Gravel Ridge, Timmy Whitfield of Scott, and Bobby (Lucinda) Whitfield of Ward; his daughters, Jackie (Danny) Lynch of Scott and Betty (Paul) Lunsford of McRae, and “extra daughter,” Bernice Grice of Texas; his sisters, Frances Smith of Furlow, Martha Lou Matthews of Scott, Stella Miranda of El Paso, and “extra daughter,” Bernice Grice; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; his beloved dog, Rosie: and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Wilson Robison Funeral Home in England. Graveside will follow at Keo Cemetery about 2 p.m.
