SUSAN LOUISE WILKINSON,

-

born April 6, 1959 at St. Edward’s hospital in Fort Smith, passed away January 16, 2024 in a Little Rock hospital. Her mother Betty said, “When I named Susan, I thought it was one of the most beautiful girl’s names.” She was named in memory of her aunt, Ossie Louise Wilkinson, who died at a young age in Greenwood. Betty said she and Means were both so proud of her and so happy to have a little girl. Susan had an idyllic childhood as the daughter of Elizabeth “Betty” Wilkinson and the late Means Wilkinson. She cherished her memories of growing up at “The Rox” Wilkinson Estate in Greenwood. Her happy memories of her childhood were calling her to spend more time at home in Greenwood. In the process of moving from Little Rock, she had already moved her church membership back to her family church, Good Shepherd Presbyterian in Greenwood.

Susan graduated from Greenwood High School in 1977, where she excelled academically, scholastically, athletically, and musically, particularly playing the piano. Susan enjoyed dance lessons throughout her entire childhood. After high school, Susan attended the University of Arkansas, where she continued to excel. Susan was a member of Chi Omega fraternity, cheered for the Razorbacks as a member of the U of A Pom-Pom Squad, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance and Banking. Susan subsequently earned a Master of Education from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Accordingly, Susan was well prepared to follow her passions as an Adult Education Specialist and as a Director of Farmers Bank for 35 years. As an adult education teacher, she was overjoyed as she witnessed firsthand the transformation she was making in people’s lives. Further, as a member of Farmers Bank’s Board of Directors, she was an integral part of the bank’s unprecedented growth and success.

Susan dearly loved her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Fiser Williams and Michael Walton Williams of Cave Springs and their two young sons, Payne and Forbes. She is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Wilkinson of Greenwood, her brother Robert Norman Wilkinson and Sherri Karber of Fort Smith, brother Charles Stanhope Means Wilkinson and wife Debi of Greenwood, and brother James Edward Wilkinson and wife LaDonna of Greenwood. Susan was proud of her family and its heritage. She was a member of the Society of Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the National Society of Huguenots, i.e., an association of ancestors of followers of John Calvin who were exiled from Southern France during the Protestant Reformation.
