97, of Delight, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home. He was born September 17, 1926, in Antoine, Ark., to Clyde Wingfield and Margarette Morris Wingfield.

Gus and Alice Rasmussen were married for 72 years.

He was a Christian who enjoyed hunting, fishing and politics. He was the executive officer at the Bank of Delight for many years, and he served on the Delight School Board. Gus was active in the Lions Club. He was elected to the State Legislatur­e, State Auditor, and State Treasurer. Gus and Alice traveled throughout the world.

Gus served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother and sisterin-law, Jack and Barbara Wingfield.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice; his children, Margaret, Valerie (William Henderson), and Jim (Kelli Campbell); his grandson, Wyatt (Molly) Wingfield; his great-granddaugh­ter, Reagan Leigh Wingfield; his special sister-in-law, Shirley Rasmussen; his nephews, Greg (Patty) Wingfield and Tyler (Stephanie) Rasmussen; nephew, Alex Rasmussen and niece, Lisa Ward.

A luncheon will be held at Antoine Community Building at 12 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024. A graveside service will follow the luncheon at 1:30 p.m. at Antoine Cemetery with David Lamb officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s will be Wyatt Wingfield, Greg Wingfield, Cole Wingfield, David Brian Hendrix, Tyler Rasmussen, Clay Wingfield, and Darwin Hendrix.
