ZELMODINE BROWN, 93, slipped away from this earth on February 10, 2024. She was born October 20, 1930 in Neely, Ark., to a sharecropp­ing family, married at 26, and became a homemaker who loved yardwork, gardening, and canning. After raising her family she worked as a CNA until she was 75. She was a loving mother of four children: Mary (David) Adams, Georgia (Harvey) Best, George (Teresa) Brown, and Greg (Darla) Brown; 17 grandchild­ren; and 30 great-grandchild­ren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, James David and Mary Alice (Alexander) Billings; husband of 46 years, George Anderson Brown; and her six siblings. Dean attended First Pentecosta­l Church in North Little Rock for 62 years where she loved to worship and hear the Word of God. PATRICIA HANEY HOEFFKEN, 75, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away February 7, 2024.

She was born August 14, 1948, in Little Rock, Ark., to the late LeRoy and Louise Haney.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Haney, and Melvin Haney, Jr. Left to cherish Pat’s memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Charles Hoeffken; children, Charles Hoeffken, III and Tiffany Moore (Ben); and the light of her life, her grandson, Liam Roy Moore; siblings, Stephen Haney (Tricia) and Melody Dycus (Gary); and a host of family and friends.

Pat was raised in North Little Rock and was a graduate of Buckeye Christian School (now Calvary Academy). In 1969, she graduated from the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minn. Pat was a 39-year federal employee with the USDA specializi­ng in public relations as a Visual Informatio­n Specialist; she was honored with numerous awards, including the recipient of the 2002 Federal Employee of the Year receiving this award in Washington, D.C.

When it came to decorating and photograph­y, she was a perfection­ist; when it came to family and friends, she was a peacemaker.

Pat loved the Lord with all her heart. She was extremely compassion­ate and loved helping others; she had a servant’s heart, as she was kind and generously gave to her family, friends, and community. Pat was family centered, a wonderful mother, and she treasured her role as “Grammy.”

Pat genuinely cared for people, never met a stranger, and always saw the best in others. She spent time with many of her close friends in the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and as an avid reader, she enthusiast­ically shared her books.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street). Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, in the Chapel at First Pentecosta­l Church in North Little Rock. Burial will follow at Mulberry Cemetery in England. THOMAS JACOB PHILLIPS, 19, of North Little Rock passed away on February 5, 2024. Thomas was born on November 19, 2004 in Jacksonvil­le, Ark., to Bill & Renee Phillips.
