BASEBALL

BOONEVILLE 12, HACKETT 2 Rylen Ray was 3 for 4 with 3 runs batted in for Booneville (3-5, 2-0 3A-4), which whipped the Hornets.

BRYANT 5, LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL 3 Gideon Motes had two hits and two runs batted in to lift Bryant (94, 3-0 6A-Central) over the Tigers. Eli Berry gave up 1 run and struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings of relief for the Hornets.

COTTER 11, YELLVILLE-SUMMIT 1 (6) Ty Tilton struck out 12 batters to push Cotter (7-3, 3-1 2A-1) to victory. David Roger, Kolby Vinson, Colton Tilton and Ty Tilton all had two hits in the win.

GREEN FOREST 7, VALLEY SPRINGS 5 Mason Meador’s bases-clearing double in the seventh inning allowed Green Forest to come from behind and defeat Valley Springs in the first game of a 3A-1 Conference doublehead­er at Valley Springs. Green Forest loaded the bases with singles by Ryne Stone and Radon Lawrence and a walk to Jayse Lawrence. Meadow then drove in all three runners with his opposite-field hit. Radon Lawrence had two hits for Green Forest, while Jace Maedor added a double and drove in two runs. Camden Fredlund, Levi Carey and Riley Guynn each had two hits for Valley Springs.

LITTLE ROCK CATHOLIC 8, JONESBORO 0 Asher Hamilton struck out 13 in seven innings as Catholic (5-5, 1-2 6A-Central) blanked the Golden Hurricane to stop a fourgame losing streak.

PRAIRIE GROVE 4, GENTRY 2 Bryce Ledgerwood’s bases-clearing double put Prairie Grove ahead to stay, and the Tigers went on to claim a 4A-1 Conference win at home over Gentry. Luke Vance led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, Caleb Carte reached on an error and Connor Hubbs was intentiona­lly walked to load the bases before Ledgerwood’s hit gave Prairie Grove a 3-2 lead. The Tigers added an insurance run in the sixth when Maddox Ogle doubled and scored when Carte reached on an error.

SOFTBALL

BENTONVILL­E 7, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 3 Amber Turner and Anna Lee Kulka both had three hits as Bentonvill­e (7-3, 3-2 6A-West) pulled away. Ryann Sanders struck out seven batters for the Lady Tigers as well.

CALICO ROCK 17, VIOLA 15 Madelyn Thornton went 4 for 5 with 4 runs batted in as Calico Rock (5-3, 3-1 1A-2) survived in a high-scoring battle. Haven Stapleton was 4 of 6 with 3 runs scored, and Scarlett Owens finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for the Lady Pirates. Shelby Skidmore, who had two hits in the victory, also got the win on the mound. Cheyenne Newberry and Kailey Hallmark both had three hits for Viola (3-2, 0-2), which came up short after scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Haylee Crotts hit a home run for the Lady Longhorns.

IZARD COUNTY 12, CEDAR RIDGE 2 Quinn Johnson ended 2 for 3 with 5 runs batted in during a rout for Izard County (3-2, 2-1 2A-2). Hollie Johnson and Trinity Gaskins each had three hits while Megan McBride supplied three RBI for the Lady Cougars. McBride also struck out 17 and allowed 2 hits in 7 innings. Jacie Skaggs belted a home run for Cedar Ridge (3-3, 2-2).

LAKE HAMILTON 6, BENTON 4 Reese Lackey went 3 for 4, including a key two-run home run, as Lake Hamilton (6-5, 6-1 5A-South) knocked off the reigning Class 5A champions. Lackey also allowed 6 hits and struck out 4 in 7 innings for the Lady Wolves, who scored all of their runs over the final two innings. Cam Culclager was 2 for 4 for Benton (5-2, 3-1).

SHIRLEY 2, WEST SIDE GREERS FERRY 1 Hunter Hutto gave up 2 hits and struck out 16 in 7 innings to pace Shirley (4-2, 1-1, 1A-2) past the Lady Eagles. Sam Corpier had two hits for West Side Greers Ferry (4-3, 4-2).

TAYLOR 4, BRADLEY 0 Ayla Buford allowed one hit and struck out six hitters in a shutout win for defending Class 1A champion Taylor (8-2, 3-0 1A-7). Buford was also 2 for 3 for the Lady Tigers.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 11, MCDONALD CO. (MO.) 1 Jack Gibbs belted a three-run home run to lead Shiloh Christian to a nonconfere­nce victory over McDonald County at Springdale. Gibbs’ blast spearheade­d a five-run first inning for the Saints (4-3-1). Dalton Carnes had a pair of doubles for two of the Saints’ nine hits and also drove in a run, while Gibbs finished with four RBI. Will Halberg picked up the win as he allowed 2 hits and struck out 5 in a 48-pitch outing.
