BASEBALL

ALMA 8, OZARK 3 Alma jumped out to a 6-0 lead at home after two innings and went on to defeat Ozark during a nonconfere­nce game. Backto-back doubles by Brayden Driscoll and Michael Taylor put the Airedales (7-7) on the scoreboard and eventually led to a four-run first, then an Ozark error on a fly ball allowed Alma to add two more runs in the second. That was all the offense the Airedales needed as pitchers Braden Green and Aiden Keith held the Hillbillie­s to eight hits. Taylor finished with two hits and drove in two runs to lead Alma, while Easton Daily had a pair of doubles and Eli Risley drove in two runs. Braden Bramucci had two hits and drove in a run for Ozark (5-12).

BOONEVILLE 12, POTTSVILLE 8 Rylen Ray belted two home runs as Booneville (5-5) ran its winning streak to five games. Ray finished with three runs batted in while Dax Goff went 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI for the Bearcats.

EPISCOPAL COLLEGIATE 4, CONWAY CHRISTIAN 2 Hunter Grumbles gave up 3 hits and struck out 13 in 7 innings to lead Episcopal Collegiate (2-4, 1-2 2A-5) against the Eagles. Grumbles also had two hits for the Wildcats, who withstood their three errors to stop a three-game skid.

GREENLAND 9-10, LIFE WAY CHRISTIAN 0-6 Carter Jackson and Braxton Harp combined to throw a one-hit shutout as Greenland defeated Life Way Christian at home in the first game of a 2A-1 Conference doublehead­er. Jackson fired four hitless innings and struck out six for the Pirates, while Harp kept the nohit bid alive until Jackson Williams had a one-out single in the sixth. Hank Ramsey gave Greenland all the offense it needed with a two-run single in the first. Jackson helped his cause with an RBI single in the third and made it a 3-0 game before the Pirates added four runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth. Ramsey also drove in the go-ahead run as part of a four-run sixth as Greenland rallied to sweep Life Way. Ramsey’s single drove in Jack Stockston, who led of the inning with a double, and broke a 6-6 tie. Ramsey then scored on Zander Rankin’s single, and the last two runs scored when Aiden Parker came home on a wild pitch and Rankin stole home. Brooks Baxendale had two hits and also pitched four innings of relief to earn the win for Greenland (12-3, 6-1), which moved ahead of Life Way Christian (8-4, 4-2) with the sweep.

RECTOR 7, CORNING 3 Colton Haywood was 4 for 4 with 5 runs batted in to help keep Rector (11-0) unbeaten. Hayden Vavak added two hits, and Chance Lopez struck out eight for the Cougars.

WALNUT RIDGE 2, MELBOURNE 1 Kaden Martin and Bo Kersey had two hits apiece to spark Walnut Ridge (12-3, 5-0 3A-2). Rex Tedder allowed four hits on the mound and drove in a run for the Bobcats.

SOFTBALL

BAPTIST PREP 19, MAUMELLE CHARTER 0 Addison Highfill blasted a grand slam to highlight a rout for Baptist Prep (5-7, 2-0 3A-5).

DEWITT 16, FORDYCE 0 DeWitt (82) pounded out 16 hits, with Adryan Cox leading the way with a home run, during a blowout of the Lady Bugs. Cox, Harley Grammer, Gracey Lloyd, Khloe Lloyd and Bailey Robinson all had two hits for the Lady Dragons. The Lloyd duo also combined to drive in six runs as well.

HACKETT 13, PRAIRIE GROVE 0 Makenzie Freeman was 3 for 4 with 5 runs batted in for Hackett (13-3), which ended the night with 16 hits. Freeman, along with Eva Thornburg, hit home runs for the Lady Hornets, who scored 10 runs total over the final two innings. Morgan Coryell and Michaelyn Freeman and had three hits, and Thornburg notched 4 RBI in the win.

LAMAR 10, DOVER 0 Kori Sanders had three hits to catapult Lamar (83, 1-1 3A-5), which exploded for six runs in the opening innings to build a big lead.

MELBOURNE 9, WALNUT RIDGE 8 Katie Miller’s hit in the bottom of the seventh inning sent Allie Cone home and won it for Melbourne (11-3, 6-1 3A-2). Kallie Thornton struck out 6 and walked 3 in 7 innings for the Lady Bearkatz.

MOUNT VERNON-ENOLA 10, IZARD COUNTY 2 Ally Mendoza had three hits, including a long home run, to get Mount Vernon-Enola (4-2, 4-2 2A-2) its second victory in a row. Mendoza also contribute­d four runs batted in for the Lady Warhawks.

POYEN 14, CENTRAL ARKANSAS CHRISTIAN 7 Ganny Murphy was 2 for 2 as Poyen (8-2, 3-0 2A-5) doubled up the Lady Mustangs. Jadyn Warrick struck out seven in seven innings for the Lady Indians.

SHERIDAN 14, MALVERN 4 A sixrun second inning lifted Sheridan (14-0) over the Lady Leopards. Mary Lem blasted a home run - her third of the season - in the fifth inning for the Lady Yellow Jackets, who stayed perfect on the year.

VILONIA 12, LONOKE 3 Gracie Reed had three hits, including a home run, to send Vilonia (5-4) soaring past the Lady Jackrabbit­s. Reed drove in two runs total for the Lady Eagles, who’ve won three straight games.
