Art league to hold paint, collage workshop

The Pine Bluff Art League will present a Paint + Collage Workshop led by league artist Julia Barrett from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave.

The league invites art enthusiast­s and beginners to this introducto­ry class.

“Gain an understand­ing of painting and collage and how to create a harmonious compositio­n with the two to develop your own mixed media art piece to take home,” according to a news release.

“Follow Barrett in an encouragin­g environmen­t and work alongside fellow artists.”

Scissors, rulers, acrylic paint, Modge Podge, sketch paper, drawing pencils, paint brushes, water cups, canvases and other basic art materials are available. The league requests that participan­ts bring specialty patterned paper, magazines, and other collage materials to diversify their creative options. There will be a limited supply of specialty paper on site, according to the release.

Barrett is a long-time PBAL member and has an exhibition at the Reynolds building through May 10. She received a degree in art at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and taught for 25 years at Pine Bluff High School and England High School.

The workshop cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Checks should be made to the Pine Bluff Art League and mailed to the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave., Box 8, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.

PBAL members may also have their work shown at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas during the annual Pine Bluff Art League Juried Exhibition.
