Maureen Minnick

NEPTUNE - Maureen Minnick, age 79, of Neptune, NJ passed away very peacefully on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ and has been residing in Neptune, NJ since 2002. Maureen graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Perth Amboy in 1961 and she later went on to Rutgers University’s Cook College in New Brunswick, NJ, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education. Upon graduation, she began her career as a teacher at the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School in East Brunswick, NJ, teaching adult students in the Medical Assisting program. She was awarded the prestigious Middlesex County Teacher of the Year award for 2003-2004, a huge accomplishment that she was very proud of achieving.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Bridget O’Gara and her younger sisters, Rita and Bernadette O’Gara. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Joseph R. Minnick Sr, her loving children Jennifer Brennan, and her husband Kevin, of Neptune, NJ, her sons Jospeh R. Minnick Jr of Long Branch, NJ and Patrick O’Gara Minnick of Atlantic Highlands, NJ. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Meghan O’Gara, Christopher Joseph and Emily Bridget. Maureen also leaves behind her brother, Vincent O’Gara of Whiting, NJ, many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as scores of friends, neighbors and many former students.

Our family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of Maureen ‘s incredible health care aides and nurses. The level of care and attention given to her was remarkable. Extraordinary job. She will be missed immensely by everyone. Friends and family are invited to Maureen’s services from 12p to 3P on Friday, August 25th, 2023 at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune, NJ.
