MANCHESTER TWP - Anne Terese Corey, 86 of Manchester Township, formerly of Manalapan Township, passed away on Thursday, September 14th 2023 at Springpoin­t Living of Manalapan. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., a graduate, and member of the women’s basketball team of St. Peters HS. Anne had resided in Manalapan for over 25 years before moving to Manchester. Anne was a communican­t of St. John’s Church, Manchester, and former communican­t of St. Thomas More R.C of Manalapan. Her profession­al careers included secretary and sales associate for McGraw Hill, Hightstown NJ and she served as secretary to the principal while her children were young.

Anne was a loving mother and wife, dedicated to her family and community at large. She was an avid supporter of her children’s sports and social activities while also finding time to serve the community’s poor and elderly. A passionate Yankees fan, she was also a fan of Jimmy Buffet and Willie Nelson, enjoyed music and the arts, and was vibrant personalit­y of the community which was often expressed through her membership of the Yorktowne Social Club and her energetic pride of her Irish heritage.

Anne Corey was a two-term president of the St. Johns Church Rosary Society and was also dedicated to the Rosary Society during her years as a parishione­r of St. Thomas More. She was also a founding member and organizer of the Right to Life movement, marching in Washington DC advocating for the rights of the yet to be born.

Anne was predecease­d by her son-in-law Michael Confessore. In 2013. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Paul W. Corey; her children Stephen and Timothy Corey, Susan Confessore and Sheila Smith, her brother Jack Hickey and sister-in-law Maureen Hickey, 11 grandchild­ren including Joseph, Sarah, Allison, Daniel and Gracie Corey, Michael and Dominick Confessore, Nicole Denenberg, Hannah Koning, Melissa Whittingto­n, and Shawna Elizabeth West. Anne’s legacy includes six great grandchild­ren.

The viewing will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, N.J. on Monday September 18th from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan on Tuesday September 19th at 10 am followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Autism Awareness to Bancroft, 1244 Caldwell Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
