William “Bucky” DeVizio

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS - William E. (Bucky) De Vizio, age 94, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. William was the son of Catherine and Joseph De Vizio.

He was born in Newark, NJ, Aug. 31, 1929. He lived in Newark for some time and met his wife, Jeanne, and lifelong friends there. Later, he moved to Belford and raised his family. In 1991, William and Jeanne moved to Toms River until they moved back to Atlantic Highlands in 2015 to be closer to family.

William graduated High School at Westside High in Newark. He was then drafted into the United States Army and served as a combat engineer in Germany during the Korean War. Upon his return, he married Jeanne Cocuzza. William worked as a machinist. He then worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier in Keyport until his retirement in 1989.

William was a family man who loved spending time with his extended family. William was very proud that he excelled at baseball and played in the minor leagues in Florida. He loved to talk politics with anyone who would join in that discussion. He also loved his beloved Giants and big band music. He was a very independen­t man until his recent illness.

He was predecease­d by his wife of 64 years, Jeanne Cocuzza De Vizio, in 2018. He was also predecease­d by his mother, Catherine, Father, Joseph, and Brothers, Robert and Joseph.

He is survived by his children Cathy and Matt Kane of Highlands and Diane and Charlie Marks of Atlantic Highlands. Grandchild­ren Rebecca and Charlie Wells, William and Jacqui Kane, and Jimmy and Erin Marks. William also leaves behind his great-grandchild­ren. Matthew Kane, Emily Wells, Parker Wells, and Lucie Wells. As well as his extended family of 14 nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Mary Fusco. He will be extremely missed by all.

Cremation services are private.
