FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Dorothy M. Davis, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2023.

Dorothy was born December 4, 1946 in Jamaica Plain, a four square mile neighborho­od in the city of Boston, MA and was a long time resident of Freehold. She retired from AT&T Bell Labs at Holmdel where she was a software engineer and systems analyst. She received her bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University. She was a longtime member of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold Township.

Dorothy volunteere­d with the Monmouth County Food Bank, Habitat For Humanity, and the resident theater company in Freehold, the Center Players. She was a patron of the arts and enjoyed all the new York City afforded, including the High Line where she was a founding member.

She loved to travel and had been on all seven continents and above the Artic Circle and below the Antarctic Circle. Her favorite trip of all time was to the magnificen­t continent of Antarctica and her Adelie Penguins.

She is predecease­d by her father, USA MSGT George F. McCarthy, and mother, Dorothy E. McCarthy

She is survived by her beloved husband and worldwide traveling companion, Jim; brother, George M. McCarthy, daughters, Jacqueline and Christine; six grandchild­ren; and three great grandchild­ren.

Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3 to 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. during the visiting hours. Interment will be held at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
