Here’s a dash of information on midcentury mills.
WHO DUNNIT: We have Danish Designer Jens Quistgaard to thank for these marvelous mills. He and Ted Neirenberg then founded the Dansk Company. WHEN: Quistgaard began working as a Dansk partner in 1954, and remained the chief designer until the 1980s. LEGACY: Quistgaard lived to the age of 88, having won numerous awards for his work. During his youth and Denmark’s occupation by Germany, he was a member of the Resistance movement. TRUTH BE TOLD: As an adolescent, Quistgaard made toys by hand from the backyard scrap pile.
