Of all the de­sign styles and eras, why mid­cen­tury? “The short an­swer is it’s a ton of fun! Mid­cen­tury de­sign is play­ful, ca­sual, and has a light­ness to it, all [of] which work well with 21st cen­tury liv­ing,” Brian says.

What in­spires you most about mid mod de­sign? “The stream­lined, re­duced form of mid­cen­tury cre­ates a vir­tu­ally blank can­vas. It is eas­ily adapt­able and gives de­sign­ers per­mis­sion to ex­pand, mod­ify and recre­ate ex­cit­ing new forms that al­ways fol­low func­tion,” Brian says. “It is ex­tremely flex­i­ble, mal­leable.”

“I am more in­flu­enced by some of the pre-mid­cen­tury de­sign­ers—the ones who were the pre­cur­sors to Amer­i­can mid­cen­tury—like Frank Lloyd Wright and Whar­ton Esh­er­ick,” Brian says.
