edge in turnover ratio. Interceptions by Pratt and Colton Labay give the defense 40 takeaways through 12 games. Opponents have forced a mere 11 turnovers.

Pratt, who scored his first varsity touchdown, gave credit to his linemen for his interception.

“It was those big guys who put all that pressure on him,” Pratt said. “I looked at down and distance, and saw (Lago Vista) only needed a couple yards for a first down. I cut inside, thinking they’d probably throw a quick out.”

Pratt was mobbed by his teammates after he crossed the end zone.

“I think (Pratt) got scared because he thought I was going to hit him,” Luna said, grinning. “The feeling on that play was unexplainable.”

Yoe set the tone of the game on defense, limiting Lago Vista to one first down and 37 offensive yards in the first half. By contrast, Yoe had 10 first downs and 193 yards to earn a 21-0 halftime lead.

Leading 7-0 in the second, Yoe took command on Pratt’s interception, his third pick of the year. Lago Vista completed just one pass the entire night, gaining 6 yards on the play.

Kopriva was the game’s pivotal offensive player, passing for 163 yards in the first half, including a 22-yard strike to Colton Shelton to open the scoring. Running back J’Juan Anderson capped the first-half scoring with an 8-yard touchdown burst with 51 seconds remaining in the half.

Lago Vista (8-4) broke up the shutout when run- ning back Chris House scampered four yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Running back Scott Zufelt rushed for 58 of his team-high 74 yards in the second half.

The Vikings had their six-game winning streak snapped. Yoe had beaten Lago Vista 41-20 in October.

Yoe has been solid on both sides of the football all year, outscoring opponents by an average score of 38-11 a game.

Yoe relied on its passing game all night. Kopriva completed 24 of his 35 passes. Balanced during the regular season, the Yoemen rushed for just 95 yards Friday.

Kopriva has now passed for 31 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The Yoemen, coming off a 6-5 season, are just three victories shy of their second state championship.

“We just hate to lose,” Luna said, speaking of the team’s turnaround.
