Austin F1 ratings come in strong

“The best compliment we’ve been getting so far is, ‘You’re not on enough,’” he said. “There’s a lot of new TV shows out there, and this one’s really catching on. We think that, as people get to know us better, maybe more radio stations will start to pick us up.”

F1 ratings are in

An estimated 500,000 people tuned into the Speed cable network on Nov. 18 to catch Austin’s inaugural Formula One race, according to newly released Nielsen ratings.

The live broadcast from the Circuit of the Americas track had far more viewers than a comparable race that took place last year in Brazil, according to Speed, drawing 40 percent more households, 70 percent more men in the ages 3554 demographi­c and 75 percent more men in the ages 18-49 demographi­c.

Next year’s Austin race, scheduled for Nov. 17, will be shown on NBC affiliates nationwide, including Austin’s KXAN Channel 36.
