The Round Rock school district is holding a series of free musical production­s that are open to the public this holiday season.

The following production­s are scheduled for this weekend:

Grisham Middle School Band Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Performing Arts Center, 5800 McNeil Road in Austin.

Cedar Valley Middle School Choir Winter Concert at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Performing Arts Center.

Westwood High School Band Winter Concert at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Performing Arts Center.

The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Dept. is hosting a Trout Fishing Derby from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St.

The department will release about 1,500 trout into the San Gabriel River for the derby. Anglers who catch a trout will get to pick a prize while supplies last. Derby entry costs $3, and registrati­on begins at 7 a.m. in the park. Participan­ts who are older than 17 must have a valid fishing license. Bring a fishing rod; bait will be available to buy.

The Friends of the Georgetown Animal Shelter are accepting donations for the Art for Animals Auction that benefits the Georgetown shelter.

The types of artwork being accepted include framed artwork and hand-crafted items, including sculptures, jewelry and more. The organizati­on will accept donations until Jan. 25.

The auction, scheduled to take place in February, will also feature paintings made by the shelter’s animals. To donate artwork email Jackie Carey, shelter manager, at Jackie.Carey@georgetown.org.

The Hutto Police Department is accepting applicatio­ns for the spring session of its Citizen Police Academy.

The program is designed to teach citizens about the structure and workings of the police department, according to a city announceme­nt. The classes are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. every other Thursday from January to May and cover a department overview, recruiting and training and more.

Participan­ts must be over 18, live or work in Hutto and pass a background check. Applicatio­ns are available at the Hutto Police Department, 401 W. Front St. For more informatio­n go to www.huttotx.gov.

Taylor officials will accept applicatio­ns for the city’s Red Santa program from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at City Hall, 400 Porter St., according to a city announceme­nt.
