Fire chief to appear in ‘The Nutcracker’

Bastrop County Fire Chief Henry Perry will play the role of Mother Ginger in Ballet Austin’s Dec. 14 production of “The Nutcracker.”

The role of Mother Ginger being played by notable Austin area personalities is a Ballet Austin tradition. The ballet company wanted Perry to make an appearance as Mother Ginger in 2011, but he was still occupied with wildfire recovery efforts.

For the 50th production of “The Nutcracker” by Ballet Austin, twelve others will join Perry in making an appearance as Mother Ginger, including President of the Austin Community College District Richard Rhodes.
