City Council seeks to fill Mitchell vacancy

- — AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

The Cedar Park City Council is seeking a member to fill the vacant seat left behind by Scott Mitchell, who resigned Nov. 29 because his job required him to go to Canada for several months.

The council will pick its newest member, who will hold the seat until May 11, 2013, when the position will be placed on the ballot for a twoyear term.

The City Council earlier this month selected Jon Lux, Cedar Park’s Planning and Zoning Commission chair, to fill a seat vacated by former Mayor pro tem Tony Dale. He resigned Nov. 13 after being elected state representative.

The city is accepting applications for the new vacancy until 5 p.m. Dec. 31, according to the city’s website.

Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at a meeting Jan. 10, according to the site.

Candidates are asked to turn applications in to City Secretary LeAnn Quinn at 450 Cypress Creek Road in Building 1. Applications can be faxed to 512-401-5003 or emailed to leann.quinn@cedarparktexas.gov.
