City Coun­cil seeks to fill Mitchell va­cancy

The Cedar Park City Coun­cil is seek­ing a mem­ber to fill the va­cant seat left be­hind by Scott Mitchell, who re­signed Nov. 29 be­cause his job re­quired him to go to Canada for sev­eral months.

The coun­cil will pick its new­est mem­ber, who will hold the seat un­til May 11, 2013, when the po­si­tion will be placed on the bal­lot for a twoyear term.

The City Coun­cil ear­lier this month se­lected Jon Lux, Cedar Park’s Plan­ning and Zon­ing Com­mis­sion chair, to fill a seat va­cated by former Mayor pro tem Tony Dale. He re­signed Nov. 13 af­ter be­ing elected state rep­re­sen­ta­tive.

The city is ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions for the new va­cancy un­til 5 p.m. Dec. 31, ac­cord­ing to the city’s web­site.

Ap­pli­cants will be in­ter­viewed by the City Coun­cil at a meet­ing Jan. 10, ac­cord­ing to the site.
