High school teacher recognized for her work
Dripping Springs High School teacher and coach Marisa Maher has won a 2012 Sponsor Excellence Award from the University Interscholastic League.
The award recognizes sponsors who help students develop their extracurricular talents while teaching them to keep their self-worth separate from success in competition. Maher, who currently teaches business education, has taught at the high school for eleven years.
She also serves as the school’s head cross country and girls’ track coach and has served as the girls’ athletic coordinator.
Earlier in the school year, Maher received recognition as the Region 8 Secondary Teacher of the Year after being named teacher of the year at the school and district level.
