High school teacher rec­og­nized for her work

Drip­ping Springs High School teacher and coach Marisa Ma­her has won a 2012 Spon­sor Ex­cel­lence Award from the Univer­sity In­ter­scholas­tic League.

The award rec­og­nizes spon­sors who help stu­dents de­velop their ex­tracur­ric­u­lar tal­ents while teach­ing them to keep their self-worth sep­a­rate from success in com­pe­ti­tion. Ma­her, who cur­rently teaches busi­ness ed­u­ca­tion, has taught at the high school for eleven years.

She also serves as the school’s head cross coun­try and girls’ track coach and has served as the girls’ ath­letic co­or­di­na­tor.

Ear­lier in the school year, Ma­her re­ceived recog­ni­tion as the Re­gion 8 Sec­ondary Teacher of the Year af­ter be­ing named teacher of the year at the school and district level.
