Apply online for school board election

Applications for those seeking a spot in the Bastrop school board election are available online.

The district will holding an election on May 11 for board of trustee place five, currently held by Glenn Peterson; place six, currently held by Linda Apostalo; and place seven, currently held by Jim Mills.

Candidates can apply from Jan. 30 to March 1. Applications can be dropped off at the Communications Office, 906 Farm St. For more information or an application, go to www. bisdtx.org.

The hunt for FestiviTREES continues until Thursday.

Participants are invited to search for trees made from recycled materials or decorated with recycled materials in participating downtown businesses and win a prize.

Customers can pick up ballots at any of the businesses, visit a minimum of 10 sites, vote on a tree and deposit the ballot at a participating location. A ballot also serves as a raffle ticket for a gift basket.
