DREAMS for CHRISTMAS PRESENT

-

One of our letter writers wished for rain, peace and for the University of Texas women’s volleyball team to win the national championship. Well, one of three isn’t too bad. Another wanted a safe place to fish. Another wants more rigorous testing for Texas drivers. Yet another wants our troops home. We asked our readers to submit their wishes for Christmas 2012 and got a wide variety of responses. Some wanted things that were tangible, and others were more ephemeral — kind of like the season itself.

Christmas is usually tragicomic or a mix of sadness and joy. The comfort and joy carolers raise their voices to sometimes eludes us.

But our hopes should always be high. Like the poem says, our reach should exceed our grasp, or what’s a heaven for?

We invite you to pick up the Viewpoints page tomorrow to share your neighbors’ wishes for Christmas 2012.
