Blood center observes national donor month

The Blood Center of Central Texas is celebrating National Blood Donor month in January by giving donors and those who attempt to donate at its fixed sites a National Blood Donor T-shirt. The month aims to raise awareness and honor those who donate blood.

Blood supplies often are at lower levels during January due to post-holiday schedules, changing weather and cold and flu season although the need for donations remains constant, a blood center news release said.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 115 pounds and be in good health and should bring photo identification when donating. For more information or to schedule an appointment, go to www. inyourhands.org.
