Faced with moving its election date or higher costs, Rollingwood officials chose the cheaper option.

Municipalities throughout Central Texas are having to choose between their traditional May municipal election dates or move to November. Rollingwood recently opted to follow Austin, the Austin school district and many other municipalities in moving its election to November.

Without other cities to share the cost of the election, Travis County election officials have indicated that costs to individual cities could increase by five or 10 times the current rates, and the costs are unpredictable without knowing which entities would hold their elections when.
