Hacienda Austin, Distillery create store within a store
When Jessica Beattie opened Hacienda Austin, a home furnishings and gifts store, one of the goals was to look at what local artisans were doing as well as manufacture its own collection. At the same time, Catelyn Silapachai was creating her collection of vintage home goods and accessories in her online store, the Distillery.
This year, they’ve teamed up to create a Distillery capsule collect ion in Hacienda Austin. Silapachai curates what she includes at Hacienda Austin based on Hacienda Austin’s modern ranch style. Some of her favorite items in the store are vintage snakeskin women’s belts and belt buckles that sell for $150$250. Beattie loves Distiller y’s cigarette cases (not that she’s a fan of smoking) that can be used as a wallet or a business card holder. Those are $ 80$125. “Those are pieces of art,” Beattie says. “Everything is a special purchase, but not unattainable. They see it and they say, ‘Oh, that’s so cool!’ It’s a fun impulse buy.”
For Si lapachai, it gives her a place to send her clients to check out some of the items she carries as well as allows her to introduce them to the Second Street District. Beattie is planning on expanding this capsule collection concept to other artisans and curators.
