Travis County deputies Thursday charged a woman with murder in connection with the death of a homeless man whose body was found at the Creedmoor recycling center Tuesday.

Leigh Bohart, 52, also faces a charge of tam- pering with physical evidence in the death of Clarence Gerald Gardner Jr., 49

ohart, who police said is also homeless, was in the Travis County Jail on Thursday with bail set at $150,000, jail records showed.

On Tuesday, workers at the Texas Disposal Systems recycling center in Creedmoor discovered Gardner’s body on a conveyor belt system used to sort recycling materials. An autopsy determined Gardner’s cause of death was blunt force trauma, an arrest affidavit said.

In speaking with a friend of Gardner’s, investigators learned that Gardner slept at night near the Church of Christ at 517 Bouldin Ave. near Barton Springs Road, close to where Bohart was also known to stay, the af- fidavit said. The friend told police Bohart was “crazy” and would often get into arguments with Gardner.

At the church, deputies found blood spatter on a gray trash bin and a blue recycle bin, the affidavit said. They also found Bohart.

In an interview, Bohart began giving un- prompted statements that it was likely that her DNA would be found near the blood spatter and trash bins. When asked if her DNA would be found on a weapon, she said it would, but that it had been planted. She then asked for a lawyer.
