Curry, James unanimous in All-NBA first-team vote

-

Golden State’s Stephen Curry, the league MVP, and LeBron James are the only unanimous selections to the All-NBA first team.

New Orleans’ Anthony Davis and Memphis center Marc Gasol joined Curry as newcomers on the team. Houston’s James Harden rounded it out with his second straight selection.

Curry and James, who are three victories from meeting in the NBA Finals, each received firstteam votes on all 129 ballots Thursday. James earned his ninth firstteam selection in 12 years, tying Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson for third alltime.

Voting was done by a panel of writers and broadcasters in the U.S. and Canada, who voted for two guards, two forwards and one center to come up with a first, second and third team.

Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook led the second team, joined by Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge, the Clippers’ Chris Paul, Chicago’s Pau Gasol and Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins.

The third team was the Clippers’ Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving and Golden State’s Klay Thompson. Houston at Golden State, late (Warriors lead 1-0) Cleveland at Atlanta (Cavaliers lead 1-0) the left knee of Atlanta Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll showed no structural damage and confirmed the original diagnosis of a sprain.

His status for tonight’s Game 2 is not known.

Carroll sustained the left knee injury on a drive to the basket following a steal with 4:59 remaining in Game 1 on Wednes- day night.

For the Cavaliers, point guard Kyrie Irving remains a concern.

Irving hobbled into the series and played only about three minutes in the fourth quarter of Game 1 after tweaking his sore left knee.

Irving, who had 10 points and six assists Wednesday, continues to receive treatment for tendinitis in the knee.

Nuggets: Rookie center Jusuf Nurkic underwent surgery to fix a torn left patellar tendon. Nurkic had the procedure Wednesday at a clinic in Los Angeles, and the team did not give a timeline for his return. He averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds this season and was selected to the NBA all-rookie second team.
